Using
Compost For Turf Top Dress:
Description:
This work consists of applying compost to existing turf to
help increase organic matter, reduce compaction, and increase
the density and vigor of existing turf areas.
Construction
Guidelines:
Compost shall be applied evenly at an average depth of 1/4
- 1/2 inch and worked into the turf using a grass rake, drag
unit, or other device. Water thoroughly after application
and follow normal fertilization practices.
Materials:
Yard Trimming Compost shall be dark brown or black in color,
and demonstrated to enhancing plant growth. All material shall
pass a 1/2 inch screen and contain no contamination such as
rocks, debris, or uncomposted materials. Unless maturity and
stability has been Quality Certified by Soil & Plant Labs.,
a recent product sample and laboratory analysis shall be submitted
to the landscape architect for review. Note: Only in the event
that a recycled compost is not available shall forest products
be substituted.
